Lady Pirates Best Saints 4-0

The Fairhope Lady Pirates improved to 7-4 Wednesday , March 16 after defeating the St. Paul's 4-0. In the ninth minute of the match, Mandy Martin banged the ball home with her left foot following a nice pass from Lisa Vogel. After Kay Douglass' corner kick in the 38th minute, Baley Murphy slid the ball past the Saints' keeper. In the 58th minute, Bethany Wansley received a pass from Lauren Marsh, turned in the box, shot and scored. To complete the scoring, Wansley, now at sweeper, started the play with a pass to Douglass, who carried the ball forward then passed to outside midfielder Anna Hogan. Hogan drilled the ball home from about 22 yards out.

Fairhope's defense, anchored by Senior Sweeper Courtney Casto and Outside Defenders Katherine Seibt and Douglass, stopped most of the Saints' attacks. Goal keeper Addie McKee recorded her sixth shut-out of the year.

Rachel Serda also played well for the Pirates with three shots on goal, while Eve Tilley-Coulson had one. Fairhope was able to clear their bench with Sarah McGough, Jana Baldwin, Leah Impastato, Niki Gautier, Mallorie Sain and Katie Jorgensen all getting quality playing time in the second half. Linde Stejskal is still injured and did not play.
