2005 Fairhope Middle School

 

Thursday 3-24-5

In a crowning moment to a spectacular season, the FMS girls won the Baldwin County Middle School soccer championship by defeating area rivals Daphne Middle School 3-1.  All three Pirate goals came within the first 12 minutes of the kickoff. Ashley Goram put the ball in the net twice, while Allison Casto added the final goal. Keeper Jessica Alexander and defenders Devan Allegri, April Smith and Nicole Tunstall kept Daphne out of scoring range for the entire first half and allowed only one goal in the second half. Midfielder Michelle Wright and Forward Cristen Crawley were instrumental in the team's victory. Team Captains Casto and Chelsea Tabor picked up all-tournament and tournament MVP honors respectively.  FMS girl's soccer team is lead by Coach Krystal Korhonen.

Wednesday 3-23-5

In the second round of tournament play, FMS girls triumphed over St. Paul's with a 6-0 victory, despite a slow-paced start. The action picked up significantly in the second half. Recording the shutout was Jessica Alexander who lead the defense with excellent support from April Smith and Nicole Tunstall.  The offense was lead by the scoring efforts of Cristen Crawley with her third hat-trick of the season!  Also scoring were teammates Allison Casto, Ashley Goram, and Chelsea Tabor. Additional outstanding performers were Erin Jennings, Kirstie Kelley, and Michelle Wright who kept the ball down on St. Paul's half for much of the second half. The FMS Pirates now progress to the finals where they take on the Daphne Trojans for the championship on Thursday at 4:30 pm at Founders.  Go Pirates!
 

Daphne boys beat FMS 2-1 in the semis today.  Cody Jennings had the lone goal for Fairhope.  Determined effort by Daphne, getting only 3 looks at the Fairhope goal - a missed PK, a direct kick for a goal, and a goal on their only shot of the 2nd half.  Daphne will face Bay Minette, a 3-1 winner over the St Paul's boys in the other semifinal. 

 

Monday 3-21-5

The Lady Pirates opened up the game with a flurry of shots on goal against Daphne Middle School in the final game of regular season play and a highly anticipated rematch.  The Pirates were up 2-0 early in the match and defeated the Trojans 3-2 in a fast-paced contest. Scoring for the Pirates were Allison Casto (off a perfect corner kick from Chelsea Tabor), Cristen Crawley and Ashley Goram. The offense was outstanding with Devan Allegri, Erin Jennings and Michelle Wright contributing to the victory. The defense held off a number of strong attacks with aggressive play by Katie Dorgan, Alyssa Lasseter, Ellie Lerner, April Smith and Nicole Tunstall. The Trojan goals resulted from two penalty kicks. The FMS girls proudly display their 10-1 record going into post-season play in first place.  Tournament play for the girls begins Wednesday at Founders. 

 

The FMS boys suffered their only defeat of the season against Daphne. After the game ended in a tie, and two overtimes, the game was decided on penalty kicks with Daphne coming out on top. FMS struggled to find their stride in the first half. In the second, Mike Keyser tied the game at one and even though FMS controlled play, another goal was not forthcoming.  The boys finish the regular season 10-1 and in first place. The sour taste of a loss will not linger as the boys await the winner of Tuesday's UMS v. Daphne game for their tournament opener on Wednesday at Founders Park. Great regular season boys, now bring home the Middle School championship trophy!
 

Thursday 3-17-5

The luck of the Irish was with the FMS Lady Pirates as they skillfully defeated St. Paul's on St. Patrick's day with a score of 7-0. Two players, Allison Casto and Cristen Crawley recorded hat tricks, while Chelsea Tabor added one goal. Devan Allegri, Ashley Goram, and Erin Jennings provided great offensive support. Jessica Alexander recorded the shutout. The team's impressive record stands at 9-1 as they go into their final regular season game on Monday against area rivals, Daphne Middle School.
 

The FMS Boys scored another victory Thursday and secured a first round bye in the upcoming Middle School tournament. The boys defeated the St. Paul's Saints 3-0 on the head and foot of Bo Clark's hat trick. Assists went to Nathan Haywood and Kyle Sherrin. With FMS down seven starters due to field trips and illness, reserve players stepped up to play and contributed one of the best team efforts of the season. Spencer Baumhower, Justin Bunch, Cameron Johnson, Roderick Nicholson, Tyler Uteg and Parker Williams all stepped in to lead the team to victory. Great job boys! The boys play Daphne Monday in the season finale and begin tournament play next Wednesday.

FMS will host the Middle School tournament at Founders Park next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Monday 3-14-5

The FMS girls extended their record to 8-1 after defeating Central Baldwin Middle School on Monday, March 14. After a slow start, the lady Pirates found the back of the net five times with goals from Cristen Crawley (2), Chelsea Tabor (2) and Ashley Goram (1). The offense passed well and played a critical role in the victory with strong performances turned in by Devan Allegri, Allison Casto, and Michelle Wright. CBMS managed to put two goals in the net, but were contained by the defense which was lead by keeper, Jessican Alexander, and defenders Katie Dorgan, Alyssa Lasseter, Ellie Lerner, and April Smith. Good job ladies!

 

FMS boys beat CBMS 5-1 on Monday. Kyle Sherrin had a hat trick...not sure who else scored. The boys are 9-0.

 

Thursday 3-10-5

FMS Boys defeated UMS Wright today 1-0 at Founders Park. Nathan Haywood netted the goal on a free kick with less than 3 minutes to play. Adam Williams recorded the shutout. Fairhope outshot UMS 9-2.

 

The FMS girls defeated UMS 4-0. Cristen Crawley had a hat trick and and Erin Jennings scored a goal for the Pirates. Alison Casto had two assist.

 

Tuesday 3-8-5

Extending their record to 6-1, the FMS girls chalked up another victory against Bay Minette Middle School.  The relentless offensive connected with the back of the net six times.  Allison Casto and Erin Jennings led the scoring with two goal each; Cristen Crawley and Chelsea Tabor each had one. Midfielders Devan Allegri, Kirstie Kelley, and Michelle Wright all contributed to excellent teamwork scoring efforts. The only goal against occurred early in the second half when the ball rolled past goalie Jessica Alexander. Alexander has performed well for the Pirates only allowing a total of 3 goals in the season. Katie Dorgan, Alyssa Lasseter, and Nicole Tunstall provided spectacular defensive support. The Pirates take on UMS on Thursday. 

 

The FMS Boys defeated Bay Minette Middle School 2-0 in a game postponed due to bad weather. After a shaky start the team settled into a possession soccer game and managed two goals against a tough opponent. Bo Clark tallied the game winner in the first half on an pass from Kyle Sherrin. Nathan Haywood added an insurance goal in the second with the assists from Sherrin and Mike Keyser. Adam Williams' reflexes and great hands delivered another shutout in goal while stopping four shots, including a rocket that he made look easy. Compliments to the whole team on a solid effort. Special hustle honors to Jake Richey, Alex Shaw and Collin Kranz for their play on the back line.
 

Monday 3-7-5

FMS Boys defeated Daphne Middle School today 2-0 in a wet game at Trione Park. Nathan Haywood scored twice: in the first half on an assist from Kyle Sherrin, and three minutes into the 2nd half on an assist from Michael Keyser. The boys played solid possession throughout the game and outshot Daphne 10-1. Adam Williams recorded his 3rd shutout. The boys play a make-up game against Bay Minette on Tuesday 3-8-5 at 4:30 on the fields behind Baldwin County High School in Bay Minette.

 

The FMS girls experienced their first loss of the season to the rival Daphne Middle School 0-1 in a tight match. The single goal came early in the game and FMS failed to answer, despite several opportunities. The re-match is scheduled for March 21st when the Pirates host the Trojans at home.
 

Monday 2-28-5

The FMS Girls defeated Central Baldwin Middle School 8-1. The outstanding defensive efforts were lead by goal keeper Jessica Alexander (below), Katie Dorgan, Alyssa Lasseter,  Ellie Lerner, April Smith and Nicole Tunstall. Alexander had chalked up four consecutive shut-out games before allowing a penalty kick during the match.

 

The offense dominated throughout the game with strong performances by midfielders and forwards: Devan Allegri, Breana Blount, Erin Jennings, Kirstie Kelley, and Michelle Wright. 

Scoring for the Pirates were: Chelsea Tabor(3), Allison Casto (2), Cristen Crawley (above) (2) and Ashley Goram (1).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The FMS Boys continued their winning ways with a 6-1 victory over Central Baldwin. The team displayed excellent possession soccer and communication. 

 

The defense (Collins Kranz, Alex Shaw, Jake Richey and Jamason Cherrix) played a pivotal role in the game with their calm presence and excellent passing which led to many scoring opportunities. 

 

Nathan Haywood led the scoring with a hat trick. Cherrix, Kyle Sherrin and Weston Payne added a goal each. 

FMS recorded 13 shots on goal with the Central Baldwin keeper making several nice saves and the post making a couple of saves, too! Sherrin led with three assists, Justin Bunch and Cody Jennings each had one. Fairhope faces Baldwin County Thursday in Bay Minette.

Thursday 2-24-5

FMS boys defeated Bay Minette Middle School 3-1. Nathan Haywood opened the scoring for FMS by converting a penalty kick in the first half. Cody Jennings beat the keeper left and fired one in from 15 yards to make it 2-0 in the 2nd half. After Bay Minette answered with a goal, Jennings again broke behind the defense for his second goal of the night with 3:00 remaining in the game. FMS is 4-0 on the season, and faces Central Baldwin Middle School in Robertsdale on Monday.

 

The FMS girls overwhelmed BMMS 8-0 during a cold and wet game under the lights. Opening the scoring was Chelsea Tabor with a solid goal from midfield. Allison Casto added a spectacular header served from a corner shot. A flurry of scoring ensued from teammates Ashley Goram (2), Cristen Crawley (1), and Erin Jennings (1) with additional scores from Casto and Tabor. The team is coached by Krystal Korhonen.

Monday 2-21-5

 

FMS Boys defeated BMMS 2-0 Monday afternoon at Founders Park.  Kyle Sherrin (pictured at left) netted both goals in the first half of a tough defensive game.  Fairhope outshot BMMS 6-0, with a great defensive performance by Collins Kranz, Alex Shaw, Jake Richey, JJ Cherrix and Nathan Haywood.  Adam Williams recorded his second shutout in net. Fairhope plays a return engagement against BMMS on Thursday at 4:30 PM in Bay Minette.

 

 

 

trtrFMS Girls notched another 5-0 victory Monday over BMMS running their record to 3-0. Jessica Alexander notched another shutout in goal, touching the ball once the entire night thanks to a strong defense. Scoring for FMS was lead by Allison Casto with three.  Chelsea Tabor and Cristen Crawley added one goal each. Alyssa Lasseter (right) preparing to take on the Bay Minette striker while Katie Dorgan looks on.

 

 

Thursday 2-17-5

FMS boys defeated St Pauls 2-0 at Delaney Field.  Kyle Sherrin netted both goals for Fairhope, and Adam Williams posted the shutout in goal.  Fairhope out shot St Pauls 16-3, and had strong play from Cody Jennings, Nathan Haywood, Jake Richey, Mike Keyser, JJ Cherrix and Alex Shaw.  The boys are 2-0 on the season and face Bay Minette on Monday at Founders Park.

 

FMS girls defeated St. Paul's 5-0. The scoring was shared by Cristen Crawley with two and Allison Casto, Chelsea Tabor and Devan Allegri with one each while Jessica secured the teams second consecutive shutout in goal.  Great job ladies!

 

Monday 2-14-5

The Fairhope Middle School Girls and Boys won their season openers over UMS-Wright. Girls won 5-0 on goals by Allison Casto (1), Chelsea Tabor (2) and Cristen Crawley (2). Boys won 3-1 on goals by Kyle Sherrin (2) and Nathan Haywood (1). Good job teams & coaches!
