v. Robertsdale 4/12/5

Pirates Maul Robertsdale Bears 4-3

Whenever these two teams get together, its a battle. Tuesday night was no exception. Hard physical play by both sides brought out the yellow and red cards for both teams. Robertsdale scored first on a PK. Ryan Strachan started Fairhope off in the 22nd minute with a goal to tie the game 1-1.

Five minutes into the second half Drew Dolan nailed a nice header from the right side to give Fairhope the lead 2-1. Robertsdale immediately came back and tied it 2-2 one minute later, then went ahead 3-2 in the 17th minute.

Then, disaster struck for the Pirates: a defender was sent-off for play that was a little too aggressive and the boys had to play a man-down.

But, in the 28th minute, a freight train named Jason Canarela broke loose from the back line with the ball, dribbled through five defenders, fired a shot on goal blocked by the keeper, collected the rebound and volleyed it into the back of the net to tie the game 3-3.

The Golden Bear defense stiffened but the Pirate attack was unrelenting and in the 34th minute on a Canarela free kick, Jordan Sinclair sailed above the defenders and flicked a header into the left side of the goal for the game winner. Game winning goal on video here.
