Southern Shootout in Mobile on 2/18/5

Game 4 V. Daphne HS   Pirates won 3-1 on two goals by Ryan Strachan and a goal by Daniel Keyser. Jordan Sinclair had two assists. Outstanding defense, again.

Contrary to the Mobile Register article on Tuesday, February 22, there was no "apparent goal" scored by Daphne late in the game. No official signaled a score. The scorer in the scorer's booth erroneously put a point on the scoreboard without a center referee's signal. Keeper Steven Pearson, who was injured on the play, clearly saved the ball 18" away from the line (Your webmaster/photographer was only a short distance away at the time to witness the event). It was quick thinking by Steven to punt the ball out of bounds, since his six seconds were quickly expiring and he was not prepared to defend without a moment or two to recover. Nice work, Keep!
