Daphne, AL - Fairhope
High School's Ryan Strachan and Sam Nokovich each scored hat tricks
in the Pirates 10-1 defeat of the Bayside Academy Admirals on a
beautiful spring Saturday afternoon at Bayside stadium. Junior Brian
Keyser started the goal avalanche with a score in the sixth
minute off of a deflection by the keeper.
Not 60 seconds later
Strachan collected another keeper deflection and sent it to the back
of the net. In the 10th minute Drew Dolan evaded three Bayside
defenders to send a hard shot by the keeper for the third goal of
the half.
Twelve
minutes before half Keyser found Strachan on a through ball for the
score. The first half scoring ended in the 31st minute when a Ricky
Harris pass found Nokovich for a 5-0 first half lead.
The second half scoring started early when in
the second minute junior Sam Miller laid the ball off to Strachan
for his third goal of the day. Nine minutes later Nokovich took a
beautiful Frank Sutley cross to the net.
In the 26th minute Nokovich found the net again
after a nice pass from Stanton Lee. With two minutes to go in the
game, Lee got his second assist when he crossed the ball to Harris
for the point. The scoring ended in the last minute when a Kyle
Sherrin shot ricocheted down off the
cross bar and Lee easily headed it in.
Defenders Ben Kuyk, Colin
McBrearty, Stewart Garner and Nathan Haywood kept Bayside out of the
Pirate defensive third much of the game.
Bayside lost their
starting keeper to injury in a Friday night match and had several
starters involved in other activities.
