Mobile, AL -- Led by strong offensive performances by
senior captains Ryan Strachan and Jordan Sinclair, the Fairhope Boys
Varsity Pirates overcame two early goals to put away a feisty
Davidson Warrior squad 4-2. After spotting the tribe a pair of goals
early on, the Pirates scored just before half on a Strachan PK.
Strachan found the back of the net
again in the second half on a nice move off of a ball by Sinclair.
Tied 2-2, Sinclair took a short cross from Strachan and slipped it
past the keeper for the go-ahead score. Movements later, senior
Colin McBrearty sailed a throw in over several defenders finding
Sinclair for his second goal of the night and the final score.
Strong play by midfielders Matt Tabor
and Brian Keyser, as well as defenders Ben Kuyk, Stewart Garner,
McBrearty and Nathan Haywood kept the Warriors main scoring threats
in check. Next game for the boys is against Gulf Shores High School
on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Girls break
into action Thursday at home v. MGM at 5:00 pm. |
