v. Davidson on 2/16/6Fairhope Boys blank Davidson 3-0 in Southern Shootout rematch
Bay Minette, AL -- The Pirate captain corp. provided the scoring punch tonight as Fairhope beat Davidson for the second time in four days, this time with a shutout in the opening round of the Southern Shootout in Bay Minette at BCHS stadium. Captain Jordan Sinclair scored the first half's only goal with a twenty-four inch shot off of Captain Ryan Strachan's pass in about the 13th minute. Midway through the second half Ryan Strachan and ball ploughed through traffic, bounced off of the Warrior keeper: ball went right, Strachan went up, keeper went down. When the fallen bodies were cleared away, the ball was in the net. After a brief sideline rest, Strachan returned to take a Frank Sutley cross, head fake the keeper, and gently poke the ball into the net again.
The always dangerous Davidson midfield was a non-factor neutralized by the inspired play of Matt Tabor and Brian Keyser. The bump and run Warrior offense was arrested by the defensive posse of Ben Kuyk, Colin McBrearty, Stewart Garner and Nathan Haywood. There's a new sheriff in town and its the Fairhope defense!
Next up for the Pirates is Northridge of Tuscaloosa at 5:00 pm on Friday at BCHS stadium. This page was last updated 10/31/08 |
