Fairhope, AL - Both the girls and the boys
varsity soccer team are winners of 6A Section 2 with their victories
Wednesday and Thursday against the Foley Lions. In a game scheduling
nightmare that had the boys playing games at all hours of night and
day, the schedule finally settled on 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm Thursday
for the boys to play their last two games of the season.
Fans packed into the stadium at W.C.
Majors Field in the afternoon to see the Pirates and the Lions do
battle. It took 49 seconds for the home team to get on the
scoreboard, a nice pass from junior Drew Dolan to junior Frank
Sutley for the opening score.
Dolan
didn't waste any time getting a second assist as he found co-captain
Jordan Sinclair who found the back of the net 22 seconds later.
Seven minutes later lightening struck again, this time it was
Dolan's turn playing off a Brian Keyser header and pounding the ball
into the goal.
From that point forward it was a virtual
smorgasbord of goals as eight Pirates tallied scores: Dolan had
four; Sinclair & Sutley two each; senior Matt Tabor, juniors Sam
Miller and Keyser, and freshman Riley Garvin and Kyle Sherrin all
found joy in the back of the net.
Keyser
led the assist parade with four followed by Sinclair and Dolan with
two and Garvin, Miller, Sherrin and Tabor each made a teammate
smile.
Brian Keyser put in the lucky number 13 off of a Sam Miller feed for
the 13-3 mercy rule finish.
