3/25/9 Pirates Down
Golden Bears 3-1
The Pirates had to face a very tough Central Baldwin team for the second
time in six days. In the semi-finals of the County Tournament, the Golden
Bears jumped out to an early lead over the Pirates. Central Baldwin scored
at the 5:49 mark putting the Pirates down for the first time this season.
It didn't take long for the Pirates to respond. At the 7:46 mark Welles
Richardson found a wide open Rushing Watson inside the 18.
Watson settled the ball nicely and found the back of the net for the Pirates
first goal of the night. Watson got his second goal of the night on a
crossing pass from Colin Davis at the 15:25 mark. For the next ten
minutes the defensive units shut down all attacks on both ends of the field.
At the half, the Pirates were up 2-1.
Coach Crandall, from Central Baldwin, made a number of adjustments that kept
the Pirates struggling for the majority of the second half. The Pirates
scored their final goal when Luke Dolan laid a pass up the middle for
Jacob Trawick. Trawick ran the ball straight at the Golden Bear
keeper and found the back of the net with less than a minute to go.
Both defensive units played exceptionally well. The Golden Bears Keeper
turned away shot after shot in the second half to keep his team in the
contest. The Pirate's defensive unit, consisting of Nathan Gillespie,
Jacob Lammon, Christian Valenti, and Sean Boyer, did an
outstanding job of containing the Golden Bears. Grant Coley was in
goal for the Pirates.
3/19/9 Pirates Take
Golden Bears 2-0
The Pirates ran into a very tough Central Baldwin team. Coach Adam Crandall
had his team ready for the Pirates. The Golden Bears came out with a
modified bunker defense that confused the Pirates until Welles Richardson
found a hole and scored his first goal of the night at the 10:46 mark. The
Bears shut the Pirates down as both defenses play tough for the rest of the
first half. The Pirates went into the half up 1-0.
The second half started better for the Pirates as they scored on a
Rushing Watson pass to Richardson inside the 18. Richardson netted the
ball putting the Pirates up 2-0. The rest of the second half was a
defensive show for both teams as they turned back run after run.
The Pirate defense of Nathan Gillespie, Trent Baggerly, Sean Boyer,
Christian Valenti, Jacob Lammon, and Grant Coley were
instrumental in the shutout. Coley and John Baxter shared keeper

3/18/9
Pirates Blank Trojans 4-0
The Pirates of Fairhope traveled to Daphne to take on the
Trojans in their second meeting of the year. Both defenses came out strong
and controlled the tempo of the game until the 19:56 mark when Rushing
Watson laid a sweet pass at the feet of Colin Davis for the only
score of the first half.
With less than 7 ticks off the clock in the second half, Davis and Welles
Richardson executed a perfect wall pass with Richardson finding the back
of the net putting the Pirates up 2-0. Another defensive battle ensued
until the 19:28 mark when Davis scored his second goal of the night. Davis'
second goal was unassisted. Less than two minutes later Watson found a wide
open Richardson for the fourth and final score of the night.
The Pirates defense played another tough game keeping control of the Daphne
half of the field all night. Nathan Gillespie, Jacob Lammon, Christian
Valenti, Sean Boyer, Trent Baggerly, and Grant Coley put on

3/12/9 Pirates Cage Tigers
4-0
The Pirates met the Bay Minette Tigers Thursday night at Founder's Park for
their second game of the season. Jacob Trawick started the scoring for the
Pirates when he scored an unassisted goal at the 2:05 mark. After a seven
minute defensive battle, the Tigers gave the Pirates a direct kick on a
penalty. Welles Richardson took the direct kick and laid a pass to a wide
open Rushing Watson at the 9:05 mark putting the Pirates up 2-0. At the
13:27 mark Trawick scored his second unassisted goal of the night. Both
defensive units tightened up and held each other in check for the rest of
the first half. The Pirates went into the half up 3-0.
The second half was a show of defensive skills as the Pirates and Tigers
shut down the offensive units. The Pirates finally broke through at the
20:05 mark when Jacob Lammon took a direct kick from 20 yards out finding
the back of the net making the score 4-0. A tough Pirate defense led by
Nathan Gillespie, Lammon, Christian Valenti, Sean Boyer, Thomas Grace,
and Grant Coley kept the Tigers in check all night. Coley and John Baxter
combined in goal for another shutout.
3/9/9 Pirates Take Dolphins
6-1
The Pirates tackled a very tough Dolphin team Monday night at Founders
Park. Welles Richardson started the scoring for the Pirates when to
took a pass from Rushing Watson up the middle finding the back of the
Dolphin net at the 5:08 mark. Richardson scored his second goal of the
night from an errant Dolphin pass and scored an unassisted goal putting the
Pirates up 2-0. At the 18:45 mark Kolby Baas scored his first goal
of the night on a corner kick from Colin Davis upping the score to
3-0. Baas scored again at the 23:30 mark on a crossing pass from Watson
making the score 4-0 at the half.
The Pirates came out strong in the second half. Luke Dolan took a
shot on frame from about 20 yards out hitting the top of the frame. Dolan
stayed with his shot and scored from six yards out. At the 5:18 mark Baas
laid a high pass at the head of Richardson who found the back of the Dolphin
net for his third goal of the night putting the Pirates up 6-0. Both
defensive units took over at this point and held each other in check until
the 20:03 mark when the Dolphins made a beautiful run from the far side of
the field. The Dolphin player shredded the Pirate defense scoring the first
goal against the Pirates in county play this year.
The Pirate Defense played tough all night. Nathan Gillespie, Jacob
Lammon, Sean Boyer, Christian Valenti, Thomas Grace,
and Grant Coley did an excellent job in keeping the Dolphins in
check. Coley and John Baxter were in goal for the Pirates.
3/5/9 Girls Make Toros See
Red: 6-0
The FMS girls improved to 6-0 on the season with a
2-1 overtime victory over Spanish Fort. Rachel Breslin opened the
scoring in the first 3 minutes with a put-back of a shot by Darian Hill.
Spanish Fort evened the score with a free kick arced over the FMS wall with
10 minutes played. The teams were then held scoreless to the end of
regulation.
In overtime, Hill rattled a shot off the crossbar
and Breslin again came in to clean up the rebound for the game winner.
Savannah Martin recorded the win in goal. The girls are back in action on Monday against Gulf
Shores.
3/5/9 Pirates Blank Toros 5-0
The Pirates sailed into Toro land Thursday night to take on a
tough Spanish Fort team. With just 59 ticks off of the clock, Welles
Richardson scored his first goal of the night on a pass from Jacob
Trawick from the left side of the field. The Toro defense tightened
down on the Pirates and held them in check until Richardson scored his
second goal of the night at the 22:39 mark. Richardson's goal was
unassisted. The Pirates went into the half up 2-0.
The second half started with Rushing Watson making several nice
over-lapping runs with Kolby Baas. Watson and Baas were able to pull
the Toro defenders into the corner leaving a wide open Colin Davis
inside the 18. Davis found the back of the net after receiving a nice
crossing pass from Watson at the 3:49 mark. The Pirates were now up 3-0.
The Pirates and Toros traded several nice runs with both defenses stepping
up and turning back every run. At the 12:52 mark Trawick found a wide-open
Davis for his second score of the night taking the Pirate lead to 4-0. Less
than four minutes later, Richardson took the ball at mid-field and drove
inside the 18 scoring his third goal of the night. Richardson made the
score 5-0. This ended the Pirate scoring for the night.
The Pirates defensive captain, Nathan Gillespie, kept his defensive
unit on their toes all night, turning away run after run. Jacob Lammon,
Christian Valenti, Sean Boyer, Kai Debus, Compton
Latture, and Thomas Grace were all part of a stellar Pirate

3/2/9 Pirates Cage Lions 6-0
The Pirates traveled to Foley to take on the Lions Monday
night. Colin Davis started the night with a penalty kick inside the
18 at the 2:37 mark. The ball sailed over the Lion wall and over the head
of the Lion keeper. Less than a minute later, Welles Richardson
intercepted a Lion pass at mid-field and took the ball inside the 20 and
scored his first unassisted goal of the night putting the Pirates up 2-0.
The Lion defense stiffened and held the Pirates in check until the 16:47
mark when Luke Dolan found a wide open Jacob Trawick making a
run from the left corner. Trawick found the lower right corner of the net
making the score 3-0. The Pirates and Lions played a defensive game until
the whistle sounded ending the first half with the Pirates up 3-0.
The second half began as a defensive struggle. At the 8:50 mark Trawick
laid a sweet crossing pass to Dolan who found the back of the Lion net
pushing the score to 4-0. At the 10:00 minute mark, Richardson found a
crossing Rushing Watson inside the 18. Watson, took an extra touch,
settled the ball and scored from 15 yards out. At the 12:43 mark,
Richardson again intercepted a Lion pass and dribbled all the way to the six
yard line before taking and making his second unassisted goal of the night.
The Pirate defense played tough all night holding the Lions to only one shot
on goal. Nathan Gillespie again directed the defensive unit.
Jacob Lammon, playing at the Stopper position, repeatedly turned away
run after run. Thomas Grace, Christian Valenti, Kai Debus,
Trent Baggerly, and Grant Coley all contributed to a stingy
Pirate defense. Coley and John Baxter combined in goal for the

2/26/9 Pirates Defeat Trojans
2-0
The Daphne Trojans rolled into Founders Park Thursday night to tackle the
Pirates of Fairhope. Everyone was expecting a tough and exciting match and
the match lived up to everyone's expectations. The Trojans came out with a
strong defense which kept the Pirates in check until the 17 minutes mark
when Welles Richardson intercepted a Daphne pass and scored and
unassisted goal. Less than two minutes later Richardson again intercepted a
Trojan pass and scored his second unassisted goal of the night. The next ten
minutes pitted tough defense against tough defense. When the whistle blew
at the half, the Pirates held the advantage at 2-0.
The second half mirrored the the last ten minutes of the first half. Both
teams made run after run only to be turned back by two good defensive
squads. Nathan Gillespie led his defensive unit in keeping the
Trojans away from the Pirate goal. Grant Coley recorded the shutout

2/21/9 FMS Pirates Repeat as Buccaneer Bash Tournament Champions

Pirates Defeat Warriors 3-1
The Pirates began their quest for a second straight Buccaneer Bash title
with a tough Thompson Middle School team. The Pirates and Warriors faced
off in the first match of the tournament. Colin Davis put the
Pirates on the board first at the 21:50 mark with a nice pass from
Center-Mid Rushing Watson. For the next eight minutes, both teams
traded run after run with both keepers turning away shot after shot. With
12 minutes left in the first half, Welles Richardson had an
unassisted goal after dribbling past the Warrior mid-field and defensive
backs. The first half ended with the Pirates up 2-0.
The second half started as both defensive sides stiffened and shut down all
offensive runs. At the 13:16 mark, Watson was on the sending end of a
beautiful wall pass to Davis who found the right side of the net for his
second goal of the night making the score 3-0. The Pirates gave up their
only goal of the night making the score 3-1.
Nathan Gillespie kept the defense on track and did an excellent job
directing traffic all night. Kai Debus, Thomas Grace, Grant Coley, Luke
Dolan, Christian Valenti and Keeper John Baxter were instrumental
in keeping the Warrior's offense in check most of the night.
Pirates Take Saints 2-0
With less than two hours of rest, the Pirates made their way from Major's
Field to Founders to take on the Saints of St. Paul's. The Pirates came out
quickly and scored their only goal of the first half at the 24 minute mark.
Davis laid a pass from his forward position to Richardson. Richardson
connected with his shot from about 20 yards out. The Saints immediately
stiffened on defense and tested the Pirate defense for the rest of the
night. Both defensive ends of the field took control of the game and turned
away just about every run on goal. The runs that were successful for both
teams were turned away by two excellent keepers. The first half ended with
the Pirates up 1-0.
The second half mirrored the first half as a defensive struggle. The
Pirates finally scored at the 7:29 mark when Richardson scored his second
goal of the night. The game ended with the the Pirates up 2-0. Again, the
defense lead by Gillespie, Coley, Grace, Dolan, and Valenti shut down a
tough Saints team. Baxter, in goal, recorded his first shutout of the

Pirates Take Championship Game 4-0
After a much needed rest, the Pirates took of the Rockets of Bragg
Middle School from Gardendale, Alabama. Coach Leeman and his Rockets had
played two games Saturday to reach the Championship game. The Rockets came
out tough and held the Pirates in check until the 16:50 mark when Davis put
the Pirates on the scoreboard. Richardson and Kolby Baas combined on
a nice run stringing several passes before laying the ball at Davis' feet.
Three minutes later Davis took a shot on goal from the far right side of the
field. The ball bounced off a Rockets player and a quick acting Watson was
able to find the back of the net for the second score of the night. The
rest of the first half saw both defensive unit take charge of the game.
Gillespie, Coley, Grace, Sean Boyer, and Velenti shut down the
Rockets for the rest of the half. The half ended with the Pirates up 2-0.
The second half started as another defensive struggle. Watson scored an
unassisted goal at the 18:41 mark putting the Pirates up 3-0. At the 15:28
mark, Richardson scored an unassisted goal making the score 4-0. Both
defensive units, again, stiffened and the game ended with the Pirates up 4-0
winning the Buccaneer Bash for the second straight year. Baster recorded

All tournament players are: Baxter, Coley, Davis, Dolan, Gillespie, and
Watson. Richardson was selected as Tournament MVP.

Middle School Girls Still Undefeated, Drop UMS 1-0
The FMS Girls improved to 3-0 with a 1-0 victory
over UMS on Thursday evening in Mobile. The girls maintained constant
pressure on the UMS end, but were held scoreless by several good stops by
the UMS keeper.
With 9:30 to play in the second half, Amy
Keyser hit a long cross to the right wing that Breanne Jones
collected, drove to the center of the area and netted the game winner.
Savannah Martin recorded the clean sheet in goal, with thanks to a solid
back line performance anchored by Allie Baumhower and Alexis
Hempfleng. The girls have not surrendered a goal this season.
2/19/9 Pirate Boys Nip
Bulldogs 3-0
The Pirates sailed across the bay Thursday night to tackle the
Bulldogs of UMS-Wright. It took 11 seconds for the Pirates to get on the
scoreboard. Rushing Watson laid a sweet ball to the right foot of
Colin Davis inside the box for the first score of the night. The
Bulldogs buckled down and kept the Pirates in check until the 16:47 mark
when Welles Richardson scored on another nice pass from Watson. The
Bulldogs again kept the Pirates in check for the rest of the first half.
The first half ended with the Pirates up 2-0.
The second half saw the Pirates make run after run at the Bulldog goal only
to be turned away but a tough Bulldog defensive team. Finally, at the 16:11
mark Richardson found Jacob Trawick, making a run from the corner,
who found the back of the net making the score 3-0.
The Pirates had another strong defensive showing with Nathan Gillespie,
Luke Dolan, Christian Valenti, and Kia Debus turning
back the Bulldogs on every attack. Grant Coley and John Baxter

2/16/09
- Pirates Tame Tigers 7-0
The Fairhope Middle School Boy's Team traveled to Bay Minette to take on the
Tigers. The first ten minutes of the game was a see-saw match with neither
team generating much offense. At the ten minute mark Welles Richardson
received a nice crossing pass from Jacob Trawick and found the
back of the net for his first goal of the night. Less than two minutes
later Richardson scored an unassisted goal after stealing the ball and
dribbling past three Tiger defenders and finding the net again from 20 yards
out. At the 17 minute mark Colin Davis took a corner kick and put the
ball in the net at the near post. This made the score 3-0 Pirates. Two
minutes later Rushing Watson took a pass from Kolby Baas
inside the 18 and found the lower right corner of the net making the score
4-0 Pirates. Richardson scored his third goal of the night when he again
stole the ball from the Tigers and took a shot from the 25. This ended the
scoring for the first half with the Pirates up 5-0.
The Pirate line-up was changed a little at half-time. The Pirates were a
little sluggish and did not score again until the 17:21 mark when Richardson
found a wide open Nathan Gillespie, who had been moved from Sweeper
to Center-Mid, inside the box. Gillespie found the back of the net for his
first goal of the season. At the 23:18 mark, Richardson, now playing
Sweeper, stole yet another Tiger ball and put on a dribbling display running
through the Tiger defense for 50+ yards scoring his fourth and final goal of
the night. Grant Coley and John Baxter recorded their second
shutout of the young season. Fairhope travels to UMS on Thursday, February

2/12/9 Boys Top Central
Baldwin 4-0
The Pirates traveled to Loxley to take on the Golden Bears of Central
Baldwin on February 12, 2009. It took less than 10 minutes for the Pirates
to get on the scoreboard when Welles Richardson connected on a 45
yard shot from the center of the field.
The offense pressured the Bears
defense most of the first half keeping the ball on the Bears side of the
field. At the 22:30 mark, Colin Davis found the back of the net from
inside the 18. This was Davis' first goal of the night. The first half
ended with the Pirates up 2-0.
The second half started much like the first half with Davis scoring his
second goal of the night on a P-Kick after a handball in the box.
Later Richardson found Davis who found the back
of the net for his third goal of the night at the 14:4 mark.
Rushing Watson, Kolby Baas, Luke Dolan, and Jacob
Trawick pressured the Bears defense all night keeping the ball on the
Bears side of the field most of the night. Nathan Gillespie,
Jacob Lammon, Kia Debus, and Christian Valenti kept the
